Who We Are
Ecological resources and skills to help you thrive in harmony with nature
We are a Massachusetts-based 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to increase public awareness of the need for more sustainable and regenerative ways of living and to educate others about the principles, practices and benefits of permaculture through media, exhibits, demonstrations and more. Visit us and learn about the beauty of living in right relationship with nature to create a resilient home and community.
We’re located in the beautiful village of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts which is built around Salmon Falls, a traditional fishing site where Native Americans filled their larders with salmon spawning upstream from the Connecticut River. This tradition continued through the Industrial Revolution, with early metal foundries, mills and factories harnessing the power of local rivers to produce tools and machinery for early farmers.
The Permaculture Place is located at one such historic mill, a short walk from the famous Bridge of Flowers and Trolley Museum.
